My Town Without Air Pollution Student Art Contest
In the spring of 2007 the Air Quality Research Center held an art contest for local elementary schools in celebration of Earth Day, April 22, 2007. The theme of the contest was, “My Town Without Air Pollution.” More than 100 students submitted artwork.
The event was judged by:
- Mary Anne Kirsch, Teacher “Eco-Art”, Davis Art Center
- Malaquias Montoya, Professor of Art and Chicano Studies, UC Davis
- Donna Reid, Curator and Outreach Manager, Air Quality Research Center, UC Davis
- Julie Rooney, Staff Writer and Creator of “Next Generation” Youth Page, The Davis Enterprise
The winners were:

FIRST PLACE: Jaeyoon Yoon, St. James School, 6th Grade

SECOND PLACE: Gabrielle Jee, Willett Elementary, 4th Grade

THIRD PLACE: Brady Corcoran, Cesar Chavez, 3rd Grade

FOURTH PLACE: Claire McElhern, Pioneer Elementary, 2nd Grade

FIFTH PLACE: Shauna Wallace, Valley Oak Elementary, 1st Grade
