Areas of Research
- Transportation - Transportation-related air pollution, including toxics, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, conformity, transportation control measures, inspection and maintenance, near-road hot-spots, and construction emissions.
- Urban and Regional Smog - State implementation planning (SIP) including control policy assessment, emissions inventories, outreach and training.
- Global Climate Change - Effectiveness of transportation-based controls, relationship between climate change controls and regional planning.
Research Summary
- Dr. Eisinger focuses on the relationship between transportation sources and air quality. His publications and project analysis protocols cover air toxics, carbon monoxide (CO), particulate matter (PM), transportation conformity, transportation control measures (TCMs), and motor vehicle inspection and maintenance. In 2006, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Center for Environmental Excellence, selected Dr. Eisinger as one of only four national transportation-related air quality experts.
Teaching Summary
- Dr. Eisinger has taught Transportation Policy (ECI 165) at the undergraduate level. He is also an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Hawaii, where he has taught Atmospheric Pollution (Geography 301) since 1998.
