Responsibilities: A postdoctoral research position is available at the Air Quality Research Center (AQRC) at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). The selected Postdoctoral Scholar will primarily work on a project that aims to evaluate the effectiveness of two leading methane emissions control strategies: landfill cover methane oxidation and automated gas collection systems. Additionally, the project will involve collecting site-specific parameters in the field for testing, which will inform simulations in the California Landfill Methane Inventory Model (CALMIM).
In consultation with the Air Quality Research Center (AQRC) Director and Operations & Events Manager, manage AQRC outreach activities, including conferences and other events which enhance the stature and visibility of the Center. Responsible for all facets of program planning, including content design, speaker selection, management, facilitation, sponsor development, budget management, public relations and promotion. Direct conference program planning committees and the support efforts of event vendors and staff.
Drs. Chao-Yin Chen (Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine) and Anthony Wexler (Air Quality Research Center) at UC Davis and Dr. Jane Clougherty at Drexel University are seeking two post-doctoral fellows to work on a newly funded project to investigate the synergistic effects of social stress and traffic-related air pollution on cardiovascular health in a rat model.
Under supervision of the Laboratory Group Manager, perform routine operations in the laboratory including all aspects of receiving, inventorying, archiving and preparing aerosol filters for analysis. Prepare filters for shipment to sampling sites and receive sampled filters into the laboratory. Continuously load and unload samples for various analyzers, conduct measurements, process data to verify measurements, and maintain instrument logbooks and records.
