Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Laboratory Group Manager, maintain routine operations in the Air Quality Research Center Laboratory in assigned analysis area. Maintain analysis schedules and assign instrument resources for air monitoring sample analysis. Review quality control analysis results and report. Communicate with team members, the spectroscopist, and the lab manager about quality issues and instrument issues. Prepare and review analysis reports, quality control reports, training reports, and data validation reports. Manage analysis for special study projects. Perform training for student assistants and new laboratory assistants. Assist with maintenance of instrumentation and laboratory equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:         

  • Experience working in a high throughput production laboratory.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing laboratory procedures.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with other laboratory personnel to establish and maintain a cooperative work culture.
  • Fine motor skills to manipulate small parts in a fast paced environment.
  • Skills to meticulously perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time, to focus on a single task, and work under time constraints to meet deadlines with attention to detail and to notice small changes in instrument response.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:         

  • Experience in a physical sciences discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and technical experience with analytical instrumentation.
  • Experience working with computer data analysis and graphing software and MS Office software.
